Is the custom of dowry a part of Hinduism?
No, it has nothing to with Hinduism. Dowry, called “dahej”, is social custom, as old as the institution of marriage. It simply refers to the wedding gifts parents willingly give to their daughter. This custom is common throughout Asia.
